Write Down the Vision

Something that I have done since middle school is writing down all of the inside jokes and funny memories that I have with the people closest to me. On my iPhone, I have a folder titled “Inside Jokes,” and when I get together with my friends and family, we have the best time laughing over the funny moments. Some of them we forget about, but more often than not, we laugh harder when we read them back the second time than when the actual moment happened. If you haven’t started doing that, I highly recommend it.

The book of Habakkuk also gives us a powerful reminder of the importance of writing things down:

In Habakkuk 2:2, God tells the prophet, “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”

When God spoke to Habakkuk, the people of Judah were in a difficult season. They were facing injustice, corruption, and hardship. Habakkuk questioned God, asking why He allowed evil to continue. In response, God told him to write down the vision He was about to reveal. This was a promise of justice, restoration, and hope for the people of Israel. Writing it down ensured that not only would Habakkuk remember it, but future generations could read it, understand it, and run with it.

Today, I challenge you to write down not just the memories and funny moments but also what the Lord has spoken to you. It could be a vision, a goal, or a promise that you will get through the season you are going through. Or it could be an answered prayer, a lesson God is teaching you, or even just a small moment of God’s faithfulness. Then, when you go back and read what you wrote, you will see how God came through, and it will strengthen your faith for the future.

My personal vision is to one day write a book and be a public speaker, leading people to Christ. It’s a tall vision that scares me just thinking about it, but if my vision doesn’t push me to lean further on my faith in God and His strength, then my vision is too small.

The Bigger Picture: Write down your vision, think big, and trust God to do the impossible!

  1. This is a good word Garrett! I love your vision and I believe that if you give it to God and believe He will bring this to pass. You should always pray BIG PRAYERS , it stretches your faith. Great job!Love you
